Maintenance

Our Preventive Maintenance Program distinguishes Fulford Heating & Air Conditioning from other HVAC companies in our area. The PM Program ensures that your system will work to the maximum efficiency and reduces or eliminates the cost of repairs. Members receive priority service, meaning your service request is always answered before a non-PMP customer. You receive discounts on parts and labor and you are not charged the after-hour rate. This service is performed semi-annually.

Today's technology allows Al Fulford Heating & Air Conditioning the ability to engineer systems that give customers the best of both worlds: uncompromised comfort on every level and unbelievable efficiency with minimal environmental impact. If you plan to upgrade, remodel or build a custom home, please call or email for more information.

Dual Fuel - Hybrid Heat
Combining the heat pump with a gas/oil furnace gives you the ability to very efficiently heat your home. The heat pump runs primarily in mild winter weather, thereby reducing gas consumption. The gas furnace is used as a backup heat source when outdoor temperatures drop below a heat pump's optimum heating capacity.
Geothermal Heat Pump
The geothermal heat pump uses the constant temperature of the earth to efficiently absorb or reject heat from the refrigerant cycle. Geothermal heat pumps use less energy then traditional heat pumps to heat and cool spaces. New residential products are available that bring this amazing, tried and true technology to the home.
Ductless Mini-Split Systems
Available in heat pump or a/c only, mini-split systems use digitally controlled compressors and fans with multiple air temperature sensors to provide comfort and efficiency throughout a wide range of indoor and outdoor conditions. These systems are great for sunrooms, basements, kitchens and supplemental air conditioning. These systems are whisper quiet and ultra efficient.
Generators
If your comfort is independent from downed power lines, winter ice storms and afternoon lightning storms, a Whole-house generator can weather the storm- automatically and seamlessly. Generators can be powered by natural gas or stored diesel gas. Generators are also available in a wide range of power delivery to accommodate powering a few essential circuits or the entire house.
Refrigerants
Refrigerant is often referred to by the trade name Freon, owned by DuPont, a major force in developing the refrigerant business. Various refrigerants are best suited to particular applications. Currently, residential and light commercial air conditioners run on R-22 and R-410A.

R-22 is the refrigerant commonly called Freon by consumers. It is normally found in all residential and light commercial air conditioners. Since R-22 is not as harmful to the environment as other refrigerants, the federal government is allowing a slower phase-out for this type. Starting in 2010, R-22 will not be used as the refrigerant in newly manufactured equipment. By 2030 there will be a total phase-out of R-22.

R-410A is a new, environmentally sound refrigerant. Many people know it by the brand name Puron®. Al Fulford HVAC is offering this alternative to our customers.

FAQ's

FAQ's
What is SEER stand for? Seasonal, Energy, Efficiency, Ratio.
What is the difference in SEER ratings? The higher the rating the more efficient the unit will be. For example the difference when going from a 13 SEER to a 14 SEER is roughly 10% more energy efficient. This percentage varies as the rating gets higher but there will always be a raise in the efficiency.
How often should I change my filters? Once a month is optimum, every three months is a minimum. Doing this can save you a lot of money or a service call.

Before You Make A Service Call
Have you checked your thermostat to see if it takes batteries and if it does do they need to be replaced?
Have you changed your filters? They should be changed a minimum of every 3 months.
Have you checked your indoor and outdoor breakers?
Is your thermostat set on the correct setting?
If you have a gas unit have you checked to see if you are out of gas?
Check to make sure the heat pump drain is draining.
